2020 Program Overview
The Master of Contemporary Chinese Studies Program at Renmin University's Silk Road School (SRS) is a key measure by Renmin University of China (RUC) to actively support the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in an education context. Based on RUC's educational platform, international experience, and high-level think-tank resources, SRS is devoted to train scholars and leaders for countries along the BRI who are passionate about China, who are well-versed in key aspects of Chinese culture, and who profoundly understand the path, approach, and goals of China's development.
Adhering to a global strategic perspective, bringing together global political leaders, business elites and outstanding faculties, the program provides students with a well-rounded learning experience in China through core competitive professional courses, lectures by famous scholars, high-end forums, visits to well-known enterprises as well as various cultural visits.
The Silk Road School offers different levels of scholarship for the successful applicants, including the full scholarship and partial scholarship.
l The overseas applicants should have the foreign nationalities recognized by Chinese government. Applicants with dual nationalities must register with the nationality on the application form.
l Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or above (awarded before August 31, 2020).
l Applicants should be fluent in English. The minimum English proficiency scores are IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 90. Graduating from an English taught program or majoring in English language can also qualify.
l Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation.
Complete the Online Application on the website of international student’s registration system at Renmin University of China (http://international.ruc.edu.cn/application).
Follow the instruction to complete your application materials and upload the materials which are needed, be sure every information is true. Once complete, you should submit all materials to the office for the initial review. You should pay the application fee (RMB 800) as well and it is not refunded.
l Application Form (print it out after online registration and sign);
l Copy of the bachelor degree or higher degree (original copy or notarized copy in English), or the expected graduation certificate.
l Original academic transcripts (Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by Chinese or English translations and notarized documents);
l Two recent 2-inch passport photos in white background;
l Copy of national passport (date of expiry should be later than March 31, 2021);
l Two letters of recommendation in English with referrers’ signature and contact information;
l Personal statement (at least 1000 words in English, indicating study and working experience, motivation for applying, academic research achievement, study and research plans, career goals etc);
l Current CV;
l Foreigner Physical Examination Form: the examination must be obtained within one month (Absence of requested item, personal photo and seal on the photos, signature of physician and official stamp are invalid);
l Proof of funding (no less than 30,000 RMB in total; bank statement or income certificate)
l Receipt of the application fee;
l Copies of published academic articles along with abstracts, awards received or other research outcomes; (optional)
l Copies of other original research (optional);
l Personal video clip (optional).

l All documents should be in English, the notarized English translations should be submitted with the original documents.
