Lecture——8 Years of the BRI: Challenges and Opportunities
One of the series lectures, 8 Years of the BRI: Challenges and Opportunities was successfully held at 207 of Xiuyuan building on 24th October. This lecture was given by Wang Wen, Deputy Dean of Silk Road School. Students of Silk Road School and Sino-French Institute and International College attended the lecture online and offline simultaneously.
At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Wang Wen briefly introduced the development status, characteristics and influence of a new think tank with Chinese characteristics in the new era, the RDCY Official think tank Website. Then, Professor Wang analyzed three important signals which signed the BRI entering stage 2.0. He emphasized the great importance of BRI and pointed out that BRI did not repeat the old road of "hegemonization", but created a new road for rising power.
During the past eight years, the domestic policy system has been maturing increasingly and international cooperation has been promoted the implementation of the BRI. Professor Wang believed that the BRI has established its foundation known as “four bridges and eight pillars” in multiple fields he hoped that students could have a comprehensive understanding of the BRI prospect.
Professor Wang pointed out that there are four main challenges faced by BRI, the intellectual challenge, the financial challenge, the domestic challenge and the security Challenges. What we could do is to be patient and persistent, be keen on providing better public goods and promoting macro-policies, cultivating new talents, setting competitive rules, be familiar with the related countries, and develop enterprises based on local conditions.
Professor Wang discussed with students on the new opportunities and ways to develop of the BRI. Students thought this lecture was very specific and instructive, which helped them to better understand the BRI and its development process.
This lecture is the first one in lecture series organized by Silk Road School in this new semester. It is believed that the students of Silk Road School can promote the high-quality development of BRI and work together to shape the global future.
