Silk Road School Welcomes Back Alumni from Australia and Nigeria
Recently, Will (Bai Yun) from Australia and Martins (Ma Xinyu) from Nigeria returned to the Silk Road School (SRS) for a heartfelt reunion, where they received their graduation certificates and alumni souvenirs.
Bai Yun, a 2019 graduate, distinguished himself with a thesis exploring the soft power potential of emerging pop music genres, which was published in China and the World: Silk Road School Academic Papers . Despite completing his studies during the pandemic, his bond with the School remained strong. After graduation, he served as a senior policy officer supporting his Australian state’s COVID-19 response before transitioning to the IT sector. Now an IT Support Analyst at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Bai Yun shared: "Returning to the Silk Road family feels like coming home. Reuniting with my professors revived cherished memories, and I hope to contribute to future School initiatives."
Ma Xinyu, a 2018 alumnus, currently teaches economics at Suzhou Science and Technology Town Foreign Language School. His eyes lit up as he revisited campus: "The forums I attended here ignited my passion for education. The School taught me to analyze economics through intercultural lenses—now I pass these insights to my Chinese students. It’s a beautiful two-way exchange."
Professor Jiang Xiaoli, Vice Dean of the Silk Road School, presented their certificates and remarked: "You’re always welcome back. May our alumni stay true to their mission as bridges for cross-cultural dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations."
In recent years, the School has strengthened alumni ties through a dedicated database, online platforms, and regional networks—expanding the global SRS community’s cohesion and impact.
