On the 23rd of September 2020, the President of Renmin University of China (RUC) Mr Liu Wei, the Vice President and of RUC and Dean of Silk Road School (SRS) Mr Du Peng, and the Vice President of RUC and Executive dean of SRS Mr Zhu Kaixin inspectedSRS and had a discussion with 2019 and 2020 students. The Executive Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies and Vice Dean of Silk Road School Mr Wang Wen, and Party Secretary of School of Agriculture Economics and Rural Development and former Vice Dean of SRS Mr LvJie accompanied the observation.

At 11.30 am, the President and the other leaders visited the teaching staff and had adiscussion with students from China, Pakistan, Dominican Republic, Russia, Somali and other countries, hosted by the Vice Dean of SRS and International School, Ms Jiang Xiaoli.

Abdi Mohamed Ahmed, a new student from Somaliashared that he has studied in China for many years and has witness the fast development of the country within the past few years. He felt honoured to be furthering his studies at Renmin University of China Silk Road School (RUCSRS).

Mariah Nazeer from Pakistan shared her study life during the pandemic. “Covid-19 has brought great challenges to our academics pursuits. When we were lost and helpless, SRS teachers helped us resolve the problems through various channels, and classmates helped and supported each other. We conquered this adversity together and that is the spirit of SRS.”

President Mr Liu Wei pointed out that SRS is the result of innovative exploration from the experience RUC gathers from running schools. The school leaders take SRS and its students seriously, and they will combine wisdom and strength from areas such as teaching methods, scientific research, and management toimprove SRS. As the students are from different countries andmulti-cultural backgrounds, they can learn and understand each other. He urges students to make use of the platform that SRS provides, to work hard in gain knowledges from all areas and have a deeper understanding of culture, economics, politics, and other aspects of China. He hopesthat they can succeed in the beautiful Jiangnan RUC campus.

Deputy Dean Ms Jiang Xiaoli reported the intake of 2020, visitation, talent development and future development ideas to President Mr Liu Wei. He gave recognition to the office, the study environment and the development of various tasks, while asking the teaching staff in great detail about their situation in Suzhou, expressing concern for everybody’s life.
