Silk Road School Academic Committee Successfully Completes Term Change
On October 25, the list of the second SRS Academic Committee was officially confirmed. Du Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of SRS, Li Jiugao, Dean of International School, Dean of the School of Chinese Law and Deputy Dean of SRS, Wang Wen, Executive Dean of Chongyang Institute for Financial Research and Deputy Dean of SRS, Huang Dahui, Deputy Dean of the School of International Relations and SRS, Jiang Xiaoli, Deputy Dean of SRS and the International School attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Professor Jiang Xiaoli introduced the academic background and fundamental information of the advisory members of the Academic Committee. Jiang Xiaoli said that SRS Academic Committee is the highest academic institution within the school, and exercises the decision-making, deliberation, evaluation and consultation authority of the academic affairs.
SRS attaches great importance to the work of the academic committee. Promoting the change in term of the Academic Committee is an important measure for the school to strengthen and standardize the academic management system. It is conducive to further highlight the position and role of the Academic Committee in the internal governance structure of the school. Moreover to also promote the continuous improvement of the academic quality and core competitiveness of the school.
At present, the first SRS Academic Committee has already completed a three year term. In accordance to the “Regulations of Academic Committees of Universities”, “Articles of Association of Renmin University of China Academic Committee” and “Articles of Association of SRS Academic Committee” and other relevant regulations, through the school’s recommendation and approval by SRS Council, Du Peng, Huang Dahui, Jiang Xiaoli, Lv Jie, Yu Chunhai, Zang Fengyu, Zhang Chengsi are appointed to the new SRS Academic Committee.

Profile of academic committee members
Prof. Du Peng was born in Beijing on April 1963.He is the Vice President of Renmin University of China, Dean of Silk Road School. He received his post-doctoral degree at the Duke University Population Research Institute, and was a visiting scholar at the Center for Aging Studies at Flinders University, Australia, and Fulbright Fellow at the Davis School of Gerontology and Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work at University of Southern California in the U.S. Prof. Du served as Chair of Asia and Oceania Region, International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics from 2009 to 2013, Vice President of China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, member of the Expert Committee of Ministry of Civil Affairs, and President of Beijing Society of Gerontology.
Prof. Du has been teaching at Renmin University of China since July 1992. He was Deputy Director of Department of Population at the School of Sociology and Population Studies, Director of the Research Office, and Director of the Organization Department. He became Vice President of RUC in July 2017.
His main research fields are aging population, policy on aging issues, population and development. He has taught courses on Aging Population, Economics of Aging and Population Generality. He has also published and edited many books, including Study on the Aging Process of Chinese Population, Aging Issues and Policies in EU, Retrospect and Prospect: Studies on Chinese Elderly Care, Chinese Population in the New Century: Analysis on the 5th National Demographic Census, Study on Chinese Rural Disabled People and Social Security, Translation Collection of Contemporary Gerontology, etc.
Prof. Huang Dahui, Doctor of Law (International Politics), Peking University. He is currently the Deputy Dean, Professor and Doctoral supervisor of the School of International Studies of RUC, Deputy Dean of Silk Road School, the director of the Center for East Asian Studies of Renmin University of China and the director of the National Academy of Development and Strategy of Renmin University of China. He has successively served as a senior visiting scholar of Japan's Rikkyo University and a Distinguished Professor of Kobe University.
His main works include “Japan's Policy to China and its Domestic Politics - Analysis of the Process of the Resumption of Diplomatic Relations between China and Japan” which won the sun Pinghua academic award of Japanese Studies, “the Trend of Japan's Great Power and China-Japan Relations” which won the excellent achievement award of Humanities and social sciences research in Chinese universities and the excellent achievement award of Philosophy and Social Sciences in Beijing), “Thirty Years of Friendly Exchanges between China and Japan”, “Research Report on the development of East Asia”, etc. Huang Dahui also edited the series of “Contemporary East Asia and China” and “East Asia Cooperation Forum”, etc. in addition, he translated many books and published dozens of academic papers at home and abroad.
Prof. Jiang Xiaoli, Doctor of Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick, Professor,Deputy Dean of Silk Road School and International College, a visiting scholar in University of Minnesota Twin Cities Fulbright, and a visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts (Boston). Member of the International Association of Applied Linguistics, member of the Translators Association of China, and reviewer of the International Journal “Innovation in English language teaching and learning”.
Her main research interests are applied linguistics, interpretation and cross-cultural communication among international scholars. Her main works include “Interpreting Learner Autonomy in Chinese Contexts”, “Research on Chinese Learning Strategies of American College Students”, and “Research on Interpretation Classroom Teaching”. Her translated works include Xi Jinping's new ideas, new Thoughts and new strategies for managing the country(Economic Volume) and Jin Nuo, Liu Wei “China Strenths”. Jiang Xiaoli also edited the “Practical Consecutive Interpretation: Theory, Skills and Training”, the “Advanced English” textbook and “Listening” textbook. She has published many papers in international SSCI journals and domestic core journals. She won the first prize in Beijing Young College Teachers' basic skills competition, the most popular award and the best demonstration award in the same competition in 2011; She won the excellent instructor award of Beijing Young College Teachers' basic skills competition in 2013 and 2017; She won the Baogang excellent teacher award in 2015; She won the excellent instructor Award for undergraduate thesis of Renmin University in 2016; She won the title of top ten excellent head teacher of the school in 2017.
Prof. Lv Jie, Professor of the School of International Studies of Renmin University of China, Bachelor of environmental engineering, Tsinghua University; master of international relations, Tsinghua University, doctor of political science, Duke University. He once taught at the School of Public Affairs, Department of government, American University, and was a lifelong professor. He was also a visiting researcher at the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore.
He is mainly engaged in comparative politics, Sino-US relations and other fields. He is a member of many professional organizations such as the youth working committee of the Chinese Association of Political Science, the American Political Science Association and Midwest Political Science Association, and serves as a reviewer of many SSCI publications.

Prof. Yu Chunhai, professor and Deputy Dean of the School of Economics of Renmin University of China. He received his bachelor's degree in physics from Xi'an Jiaotong University, master's degree in world economy and doctor's degree in international trade form Renmin University of China. He has been a visiting scholar of Vanderbilt University for a long time, engaged in the field of open macroeconomics and international trade. He has published nearly 40 papers in many journals such as “Journal of Renmin University of China”, “Intertrade”, “China Review of Political Economy”, “The Economic Observer”, “Macroeconomic Management”, etc.
His recent research directions and interests include global economic imbalance and adjustment, the impact of financial innovation on financial market stability mechanism, Heterogeneity of new trade theory, trade in value-added and etc.
Prof. Zang Fengyu, Dean of the School of Philosophy of Renmin University of China, Deputy Dean of Graduate School of Renmin University of China, professor and doctoral supervisor, and a visiting scholar of King's College London. He is selected as the top young talents of the national “ten thousand talents plan” and the first batch of “outstanding young scholars” of Renmin University of China.
He is China vice president of China Society of History of Marxist Philosophy, vice president of China Cognitivelinguistics Association, Secretary General of Graduate Education Association of Beijing Association of Higher education, researcher of the Research Institute of The thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for New Era, standing director of China Society of Hominology.
He is mainly engaged in political philosophy, the history of Marxist philosophy, the comparative study of Chinese philosophy and western philosophy. He has published more than 100 papers in “Philosophical Research”, “Teaching and Research”, “Journal of Renmin University of China” and other academic journals. Prof. Zhang Chengsi, Deputy Dean for School of Finance, the deputy director of the Department of Monetary Finance of Renmin University of China. His research direction is macro finance and financial time series analysis, etc. Member of The Econometric Society, member of the Royal Economic Society, consultant expert of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange; Anonymous reviewers of many international SSCI journals such as JMCB; Anonymous reviewers of Chinese core journals such as “Economic Research Journal”, “Journal of Financial Research” and “Economic Review”.In April 2017, he was selected as a distinguished professor of the 2016 “Changjiang Scholar Program” of the Ministry of education of the People’s Republic of China.
