Silk Road School Successfully Holds 4th Graduate Academic Forum
To promote academic exchange and career development among graduate students, Silk Road School held its 4th Graduate Academic Forum on May 26. Under the theme of "Academic Leadership, Practical Empowerment," the forum provided first-year students with valuable guidance on academic writing, thesis defense techniques, and internship and employment preparation through sessions such as senior experience sharing and faculty policy interpretation.
The first session focused on enhancing academic capabilities. Seniors who had successfully defended their theses shared their personal experiences, offering detailed advice on the entire thesis-writing process—from topic selection, literature review, and research methods to defense preparation. Nikifor, a senior student from Russia, emphasized that a clear logical framework, robust empirical evidence, and repeated revisions are key to a successful thesis. He recommended that junior students initiate early communication with their advisors to prevent last-minute revisions. Participants unanimously reported substantial gains and developed a more defined perspective for their future academic pursuits.
In the career development segment, seniors with internship experience at renowned companies shared insights on internship applications, workplace adaptation, and skill enhancement. Under the theme of "Translating Academic Competence into Career Competitiveness," they highlighted the importance of proactive learning and cross-cultural communication, encouraging students to stay updated on industry trends and clarify their career directions through internships.
Finally, Jiang Luqiang, a staff at Silk Road School, systematically introduced Suzhou’s policies and requirements for international students seeking part-time work, covering application procedures, job content, compensation policies, etc. Attendees raised questions about company qualifications, working hours, and post-graduation employment in China, all of which Jiang addressed in detail.
By creating a mutual support platform for graduate students' academic and career growth, the forum facilitated the intergenerational transfer of high-quality resources and diversified experience sharing, effectively fostering the synergistic improvement of academic literacy and professional skills. Silk Road School will continue to innovate educational approaches, cultivating more high-caliber international talent to contribute to global economic and social development.
