China Renmin University Press donates books to Silk Road School
On October 25, the book donation ceremony of China Renmin University Press to Silk Road School was held in the hall on the first floor of Kaitai building in Suzhou campus. The ceremony was presided over by Li Jiugao, deputy director of the Management Committee and the Deputy Dean for Sino-French Institute and International College. ProfessorDu Peng, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of Silk Road School,Professor Jiang Xiaoli,Deputy Dean of Silk Road School and Deputy dean of International College,and Li Yongqiang, President of China Renmin University Press, attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Li Yongqiang briefly introduced the basic situation of the China Renmin University press, and highlighted the overseas promotion of important academic works and theme books about the IBR. He said that as the first university press after the founding of New China, China Renmin University Press has always adhered to the publishing concept of "producing excellent teaching materials and academic products and cultivating talents in Humanities and Social Sciences", actively responded to the national call, vigorously implemented the "going global" strategy of Chinese books, and held the banner of "Chinese Academy" in the field of copyright export. It has formed distinctive publishing characteristics and huge brand value. This donation showed the international publishing achievements of important academic works of scholars of Renmin University of China. It is hoped that these books can help students understand the cutting-edge research achievements of China's humanities and social sciences more intuitively and quickly.
Professor Jiang Xiaoli accepted books on behalf of the school. She thanked the China Renmin University Press for its generous donation and issued a donation certificate to the press. Jiang Xiaoli said that the Silk Road School and the China Renmin University Press have established a profound friendship in the various exchanges. The books given by China Renmin University Press have enriched the resources of the teachers and students of the Silk Road School, and have provided more ways for teachers and students to have a deeper understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative construction process and the frontier research results. It is hoped that the two sides can take this book donation as an opportunity to give full play to their own advantages, constantly expand the field and scope of cooperation, and work together to provide a better platform for international talent training.
It is reported that Renmin University Press donated 320 international books to the Silk Road School, involving 35 languages. Among them, Jin Nuo's "China’s leadership in global governance" has published 10 editions, which clearly and effectively explained the important role of China's rise in global governance to the international academic community, and has been widely concerned and praised by international scholars; “Finding the way out for Chinese economy” edited by President Liu Wei has been published in 10 languages and has become an important reference for scholars from various countries to study China's economic and financial situation;The “report on China’s population ageing and the elderly welfare facilities”, edited by Du Peng and others, has been published in English, Russian, Arabic and Indonesian, providing first-hand data for foreign scholars to study China's population development; Zhu Xinkai's "view the future development of agriculture—from a Chinese scholar" has been published in English and Ukrainian. The data and views in it have been widely concerned by foreign scholars.In addition, a number of foreign language books with representative achievements in double first-class disciplines of Renmin University of China, such as economics, law, politics, journalism and sociology, are also included in the donation.
